We\u2019re not trying to replace or rival sport but are trying to promote eSports as a beneficial alternative to passive media,&#8221; King said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some really brilliant skills learned from playing eSports and our definition of eSports is human vs human playing <a title=\"History of esports\" href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/history\/\">competitive video games.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey aren\u2019t games of chance but games of skill. We\u2019re positioning it as a mind game or mind sport, sort of like a Chess 2.0.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leong said that the DSEJ was open to incorporating esports in Macau\u2019s schools but noted it would require an in-depth analysis and open discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Board at Grow uP eSports Association Macau, Frederico Alexandre Dos Santos Rosario, spoke to<em> Inside Asian Gaming<\/em> and suggested that esports could be a valuable addition to education programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrow uP esports\u2019 mission is to educate society and parents about the multiple benefits associated to esports,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that esports can serve as a platform to improve personal and transferable skills, such as leadership and teamwork, when it\u2019s practised in a healthy and controlled environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDSEJ indications are in accordance with what\u2019s being followed internationally, and Grow uP eSports Association is already developing eSports-related courses to be launched later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, land-based casino operators in Macau are hoping the passion for esports in the country will transfer to skill-based games.<\/p>\n<p>This is due to plans by US-based developer, GameCo, to roll out its skill-based games in Macau casinos.<\/p>\n<p>The developer is responsible for the innovative Video Game Gambling Machine which combines slot machines and video gaming into one.<\/p>\n<p>The developer is hoping China\u2019s love for esports will transfer to these gaming machines, provided Macau approves their integration.<\/p>\n<p>GameCo\u2019s CEO, Blaine Graboyes, told GGRAsia that he expected regulatory approval by the end of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Macau casinos are eager to add them as they may provide a way to attract millennials to the floors since they mirror video games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Esports could be added to Macau\u2019s education curriculum with the director of the Education Bureau revealing video gaming could build problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ghostkit_customizer_options":"","ghostkit_custom_css":"","ghostkit_custom_js_head":"","ghostkit_custom_js_foot":"","ghostkit_typography":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[4,27],"class_list":["post-658","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-featured","tag-mo"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.4 -
