{"id":3313,"date":"2018-01-30T04:04:52","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T04:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/?p=3313"},"modified":"2020-10-05T21:58:53","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T01:58:53","slug":"overwatch-league-power-rankings-week-4-favourites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/overwatch-league-power-rankings-week-4-favourites\/","title":{"rendered":"Overwatch League power rankings: Week 4 favourites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All eyes are on New York Excelsior as it attempts to continue its domination in Week 4 of the <a title=\"OWL esports betting guide\" href=\"\/overwatch-league\/\">Overwatch League<\/a>, starting this Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>NYXL surprised everyone with their 3 &#8211; 2 victory over reigning champions Seoul Dynasty last week, cementing their position as the new top dog and proving they aren&#8217;t just a one-trick pony.<\/p>\n<p>However, their own shocking loss to the low-tier Philadelphia Fusion barely a day earlier also proved the perceived skill gap between the all-South Korean rosters and the rest of the league is not as pronounced as some fans have feared.<\/p>\n<p>With teams like Boston Uprising slaying fellow South Korean giants London Spitfire and the downtrodden Dallas Fuel finally securing their first win for the season, the explosive aftermath of Week 3 shakes-up the OWL current power rankings significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Esportbet.com has updated our power rankings to take a fresh look at the revitalised competition ahead of Week 4.<\/p>\n<h2>1. New York Excelsior<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2056\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2056\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2056 lazyload\" title=\"New York Excelsior power rankings stage 1, week 4\" data-src=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings.jpg.webp\" alt=\"New York Excelsior OWL\" width=\"640\" height=\"321\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings.jpg.webp 700w, https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/smush-webp\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings-300x150.jpg.webp 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 640px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 640\/321;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2056\" title=\"New York Excelsior power rankings stage 1, week 4\" src=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings.jpg\" alt=\"New York Excelsior OWL\" width=\"640\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings.jpg 700w, https:\/\/esportbet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/new_york_excelsior_power_rankings-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2056\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NYXL\u2019s hard-fought victory over Seoul Dynasty more than makes up for their shock loss to Fusion.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>New York Excelsior\u2019s stunning win over Seoul Dynasty was the best performance put out by any team in the Overwatch League so far.<\/p>\n<p>With some seriously aggressive dive comps led by DPS starter Park \u2018Saebyeolbe\u2019 Jong-Ryeol, NYXL quickly overwhelmed Dynasty with its hard-hitting tactics and versatility.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being bigger fans of the black and gold tigers, even we have to admit NYXL rightly knocked Fleta and company aside for the well-deserved top spot in our power rankings.<\/p>\n<p>However, the out-of-nowhere beating the lower-ranked Philadelphia Fusion handed them the previous morning definitely made them the most contentious team to watch this week.<\/p>\n<p>With a 5 -1 standing, NYXL are still sitting pretty and we\u2019re chalking up their shock loss to the Fusion as a one-off, given the majority of their attention would have been to out-play Dynasty rather than an inconsistent, albeit underrated wildcard.<\/p>\n<p>Tank player Dong-gyu \u2018Mano\u2019 Kim and support Bang &#8216;JJoNak&#8217; Sung-hyeon stepped up big-time this week and as much as we love superstar-in-the-making De-Hyeon &#8216;Pine&#8217; Kim, his two teammates played a much larger role in beating back Seoul.<\/p>\n<p>Against the pushover Shanghai Dragons and downcast Dallas Fuel, NYXL have Week 4 in the bag and we\u2019re now confident they will end the first stage of OWL\u2019s inaugural season as top dog, even if Dynasty\u2019s roster is still arguably better as a total package.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rank movement<\/strong>: +1<\/p>\n<h2>2. They may have smashed San Francisco Shock earlier in the week, but their loss on Oasis signalled what Boston was about to deliver on the tie-breaking fifth map.<\/p>\n<p>While the loss to Boston was probably the result of overconfidence, the Spitfire still need to seriously iron out their map tactics so they don\u2019t ever let their opponent back them into a Control catastrophe ever again.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the lacklustre team performance in Week 3, their top players were individually on-point for the majority of the intense clash.<\/p>\n<p>Park &#8216;Profit&#8217; Jun-Young still proved he\u2019s one of the best DPS starters in the OWL against the Uprising, and Kim &#8216;birdring&#8217; Ji-Hyeok is a clutch king.<\/p>\n<p>Are they ready to take on Dynasty in Week 4? If they properly employ the full capabilities their deep, talented roster are capable of and as a team, we think they have a chance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rank movement<\/strong>: None<\/p>\n<h2>4. Houston Outlaws<\/strong>: They racked up two more 4 &#8211; 0 sweeps against weaker teams, but need to prove themselves against Dynasty to rise further.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Boston Uprising<\/strong>: Despite a horrible first few weeks performance, they took out the indomitable Spitfire and inched themselves back up to the mid-tier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Los Angeles Gladiators<\/strong>: A rough week for the Gladiators, who still seem to be struggling to properly defend against the current dive meta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Dallas Fuel<\/strong>: The small respite and comeback promise they earned against the Shock was just as quickly snatched away by the Uprising.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. San Francisco Shock<\/strong>: Outclassed and outgunned in nearly every game this week, the Shock need to go back to the drawing board.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. Florida Mayhem<\/strong>: With still only one win against the lower-ranked Shanghai Dragons, the Mayhem aren&#8217;t rising the ranks anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.
