VIKIN.GG vs ALLIANCE OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW
Vikin.gg and Alliance will meet for the fourth time this year when they lock horns in the opening round of the OMEGA League Europe Immortal Division lower bracket playoffs on Wednesday.
Formed just under a year ago, Vikin.gg have enjoyed a rapid climb up the rankings. They have attended 13 Tier 3 tournaments in 2020 and won eight of them, while they managed top-three finishes in four of the other five. Although Vikin.gg have seen less success in Tier 2 events, they’ve still made their presence known.
Across the last three months, Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp and co. produced a runner-up finish at OMG Cup 3, went top eight at OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online Europe/CIS, ESL One Birmingham 2020 Online Europe & CIS and OGA Dota PIT S2 Europe/CIS, and ran fifth-sixth at BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS. Now, they’re guaranteed to lock in at least a top-eight finish in the highest division of the OMEGA League, with another podium placing within their reach as they look to fight their way through the lower bracket.
Vikin.gg came through the group stage with a solid 3-2 record that tied them with back-to-back The International champions OG, although they had to settle for third place due to their -1 map differential. Seleri and his team produced 2-1 victories against FlyToMoon, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid, but they lost to Team Secret (0-2) and OG (1-2).

The man to watch for Vikin.gg is the 20-year-old Dutch carry Indji “Shad” Lub, who has developed into a promising prospect with a 7.05 KDA, 295.04 LH and 14.87 DN across 358 games. That achievement becomes even more impressive when we take into consideration that Shad had never played Dota 2 esports professionally before joining the Romanian organisation in September 2019.
Standing in Vikin.gg’s way this Wednesday will be Alliance, who are best known for winning The International 2013. Although they have not scaled those heights since, the Swedish team are still regarded as one of the strongest in Europe.
Alliance have managed a few noteworthy results since the turn of the year, including a fourth-place finish at the Leipzig Major and silver medals from StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3, ESL One Birmingham 2020 and OGA Dota PIT S2. Gustav “s4” Magnusson and co. also had a shot at a podium finish at BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS, but they were stopped in their tracks by none other than Vikin.gg in the first round of the lower bracket.
If we compare the teams’ form, it’s Vikin.gg who look to be better prepared for this bout with a 7-2 record since the start of August compared to Alliance’s 3-3. It’s worth noting that four of Vikin.gg’s wins came from the OMEGA League Europe Closed Qualifier, where they took down Cyberium Seed (2-0), Team Unique (2-1), Team Empire (2-1) and HellRaisers (2-0). Even excluding those results, they showed a bit more than Alliance throughout the OMEGA League group stage.
VIKIN.GG vs ALLIANCE OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW
Vikin.gg have won two of their three clashes with Alliance this season. The Swedes claimed a 2-1 victory at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 in April, lost the next bout 1-2 at OGA Dota PIT S1 in May, then scored a 2-0 sweep at BEYOND EPIC just before the break.
Even though the head-to-head record favours Vikin.gg, they enter this match as underdogs. Alliance looked very solid in their recent victories against Natus Vincere (2-1) and FlyToMoon (2-1), while Vikin.gg’s last game took place over a week ago.
Regardless, Alliance offer no value in the betting. All the form lines point towards Vikin.gg, so we will take our chances with the underdogs.
