]]>Icons was intended to take place in Madrid, Spain; however, Riot Games decided to relocate the tournament to Singapore due to lingering complications as a result of the COVID pandemic, including visa application delays and re-entry restrictions for several regional teams. Riot say the switch will guarantee that teams not only have the opportunity of attending the tournament, but also have a phenomenal first Icons experience.??
In a press release, Riot Games said: ?“Due to the global pandemic complicating visa application timelines and re-entry dates for many regional teams, Riot Games made the decision to move the competition to Singapore.”??
Riot’s Global Head of Esports, Leo Faria, spoke about the first Wild Rift Icons Global Championship moving to Singapore and what it promises to be to the esports community.
“We are incredibly excited to announce that our very first Wild Rift Icons Global Championship will be coming to Singapore this summer,” Faria stated.
“Icons will be the climax of our Wild Rift esports season, showcasing the best in mobile esports from around the world!” ??
This year’s competition will feature 24 teams, with eight from the regional championships and 16 from the play-in round. All of which will be vying for the championship title and the grand prize of $2 million.
??As stated earlier the Wild Rift Championship is scheduled for June 14 to July 9, 2022. The schedule is as follows:

Tencent, a company that also publishes video games, asked Riot Games to develop League of Legends into a mobile game after officially acquiring them in 2015. Riot, on the other hand, declined, claiming that the game could never be recreated on a smartphone.
Tencent then developed a mobile MOBA, Honor of Kings – international adaptation known as Arena of Valor. Tencent’s partnership with Riot Games was reportedly affected by the aforesaid games, and the two companies’ relationship was further affected when Tencent utilized prominent League of Legends players to endorse Arena of Valor as well as its esports leagues.??
After a complaint was issued by Riot Games, a restriction for marketing Arena of Valor for two months was published. Also, an appeal was made for a review of all marketing strategies by Riot Games, and a prohibition of the use of select celebrity gamers. ??Having gone through this hurdle, Riot Games saw the possibility of transforming games to mobile. Hence, they created a mobile title – League of Legends: Wild Rift.

]]>It looks as though Activision, the creators of Call of Duty, are looking to expand the CoD: Warzone into the mobile market. The CoD: Mobile, which launched last year, was a massive success. It features the standard multiplayer options and a battle royale mode.
Activision posted a job listing on its site for an executive producer for a series with the code WZM. Many believe that WZM indicates that the position is for Warzone. However, the posting has since been deleted, which leaves us to speculate.
Call of Duty: Warzone, released in March this year, is a battle royale mode game. It’s been popular among players and had 75 million users in August.
The closed beta of LoL: Wild Rift launched yesterday a closed selection of players. The regional beta is only available to gamers who pre-registered in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
While the rest of the world waits, what can we expect from the game? So far, we know that it’s only available to select players on Android, with a small test arriving on iOS soon.
We also know that in the alpha test release, there were 36 champions. In the beta, there’ll be six new ones along with five new skins. The champions are Dr. Mundo, Varus, Jarvan IV, Amumu, Sona, and Singed.
The new skins are Boom Boom Blitzcrank, Marauder Ashe, Spellthief Lux, Rogue Admiral Garen, and Worldbreaker Nasus.

Two of the major esports organizations in Brazil are coming together as one. Prodigy Esports and Falkol Esports are partnering up to form a new company Falkol Prodigy. The two are merging to hopefully secure a spot in the Brazilian Championship of League of Legends.
The two will combine their administration, content production, structures, and teams. They’ll also be making further investments as Falkol Prodigy, with a new visual identity and rebranding in progress.
The organization will invest in seven teams: LoL, CS: GO, FIFA, Free Fire, Fortnite, and VALORANT.

]]>League of Legends: Wild Rift will feature dual analogue controls and will run similar to Dota2’s Turbo mode in terms of game length.
Alongside the announcement of Wild Rift, Riot Games also revealed they will introduce a mobile version of Teamfight Tactics in early 2020, finally meeting the public demand for a mobile version of the auto-battler title.
Riot decided to further excite their fans with additional announcements, revealing they are working on four new game titles as well as a completely new animated series.
Legends of Runeterra is a free-to-play strategy card game that will directly compete with Blizzard’s Hearthstone. The new game will use iconic champions from League of Legends in addition to some new characters from the world of Runeterra.
Legends of Runeterra is slated to launch early next year for both PC and mobile but is already open for pre-registration and testing on the official website (https://playruneterra.com/en-us/).
Riot Games also gave their fans an early glimpse of ‘Project A’ – a character-based tactical first-person shooter that draws comparisons to Overwatch and Paladins.
As it stands now, Project A is in the early stages of development, meaning any further information about the game itself is very scarce. More information will become available next year, with the expected release date being as early as in 2021.
And while a MOBA, auto battler and FPS genres would be enough to satisfy most of the gaming community, Riot Games reportedly took on the challenge to satisfy the fighting game community as well, with a fighting game, currently known simply as ‘Project L’.
Project L is a codename for Riot Games’ fighting game, which will feature characters from League of Legends, all with unique abilities, that will resemble those the characters use on the Summoner’s Rift. Just like Project A, however, Project L is still in very early stages of development, meaning that any further information about the project is hard to come by.
While we talk about Riot Games’ projects which are shrouded in mystery, their teaser for Project F provided us with very little information on what it may be, leaving many fans speculating what Riot Games have in store for us.
From the short video clip released by Riot Games developers, Project F seem to be an open-world co-op RPG game which in some ways resembles Diablo. However, there are still no official news about how the final version of the game will look like.
Last, and most likely not least, Riot announced the development of League of Legends Esports Manager game, which will closely resemble football manager titles, with the sole exception being LoLEM will take place in the LoL competitive scene. Just like many other projects, however, LoLEM is still in its early stages of development, meaning we are still far from getting a chance to try out or see Riot Games’ first simulation game in action.
Steering away from video games, but keeping in touch with the Runeterra universe, Riot Games released a teaser of Arcane, a new animated series about the origins of two iconic Lol champions and the power that will tear them apart.
With a huge announcement, including new games and a completely new animated series, Riot Games threw their fans a huge bone to chew on, making the 10th anniversary of League of Legends one that will not be easily forgotten.
