The first series of the day will pit fourth-placed Hanwha Life Esports against second-placed Dplus KIA, with the winner taking sole possession of second place.

Since losing to Dplus KIA in week four, Hanwha Life Esports has won their last five series against Nongshim RedForce (twice), BRION, and Kwangdong Freecs, with all but one series win coming by a 2-0 score. Even if HLE wins this series against Dplus KIA, they will need to maintain their high level of play, as their remaining matches will be against all of the current top six.

Their final two series against SANDBOX Gaming and Gen.G are pivotal matches that could have serious ramifications for the playoff picture, so HLE must win the majority of their remaining series to remain in the top four.

Dplus KIA will be confident going into this series against Hanwha Life Esports after dominating them in week four, winning with a massive kill difference of 20-4 across the two maps. Dplus, on the other hand, will need to be ready for a reenergized and much better HLE this time around, as they bring winning form into this series and will have learned a lot since the last time they met.

Dplus have one of the easiest schedules of any of the top six teams, with only three series against other top six teams to play in their final five games. If Dplus wins their series against HLE, they should be very close to securing a top two spot if they also win their series against BRION and Nonshim RedForce.

We anticipate a much closer series between Dplus KIA and Hanwha Life Esports, so we will be taking the overs in the total maps market.

The bottom two teams in the LCK will clash in the second series on Saturday, with last-placed Nongshim RedForce taking on second-to-last-placed DRX.

Nongshim RedForce have had a forgettable LCK Spring split, with only one win out of 13 series played. Since winning their only series against DRX in week two back in January, NS has lost their last nine. Nongshim has only a few positives to take from this split, as they have been beaten 2-0 in nine of their 13 games so far. Although Nongshim RedForce defeated DRX the last time these two organisations met, DRX appears to be in much better shape than Nongshim RedForce.

In week six, DRX won their second series of the LCK Spring split, defeating BRION 2-1, before falling to Dplus KIA 0-2 in their most recent series. Since losing to Nongshim RedForce in week two, DRX has won more series than their opponent, implying that they are in better shape for this second meeting. This new DRX roster is starting to gel after playing together for a few months, and they have been difficult to beat in many of their matches against top-ranked teams. They enter this series as deserving favourites, looking for their third victory of the split against another struggling roster.

Nongshim RedForce and DRX are set to play another three-map thriller, similar to their first meeting in week two, so we’ll take the overs in the total maps market.

Fredit BRION handed Liiv SANDBOX their first loss of the split on Wednesday thanks to their strong early game, which allowed them to snowball their leads. SANDBOX looked better in game two but lost a crucial dragon fight and had to admit defeat to Fredit BRION, who were simply the better team that day.

We didn’t like Liiv SANDBOX forcing to play Jhin. Picks like that suggest SANDBOX don’t have their drafts figured out since Jhin isn’t a very good pick in the current meta. Still, you can’t take much from one game, so we have to let this one slide.

Liiv SANDBOX stumbled a bit in their split opener, but it’s not like Nongshin RedForce impressed in their fixture against KT Rolster either. Expect a close match with all three maps played.

Hanwha Life Esports lost their LCK 2021 Summer opener against T1 (0-2). Despite that defeat, you have to give HLE some praise for their unique picks – Kog’Maw + Braum in the bottom lane, Volibear in the mid lane, and Lulu in the top lane.

HLE held on relatively well in game one but got stomped in game two in what was a reasonably close series, however, there wasn’t much to take away from it. HLE have had some flashes of greatness, but they have yet to show what they’re capable of.

Gen.G enter this match priced as $1.37 favourites with esports betting sites, which overrates them quite a bit. They might be the better team, but the offered betting odds are way too pricey for the first week of the split.

HLE are talented enough to compete with the best teams in the league, and they should at least force a thigh series on Saturday. HLE with a map handicap at $1.61 is a solid bet.

?Even though Nongshin RedForce deserve some slack for their last two defeats against T1 and Gen.G, it’s hard to ignore their flaws – namely Park “Bay” Jun-byeong, who is statistically the worst mid-laner in the league. That will be a huge problem for this match as Bay faces arguably the best laning mid-laner in the league, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon.

And it’s not only the mid-lane matchup that works in favour of Hanwha Life. When all of their players are at their best, HLE are easily one of the top five teams in the league, whereas RedForce are hardly worth mentioning even when everything goes their way.

On the flip side, Hanwha Life can have moments when they look completely out of sync, but the quality gap between these two sides is too big for us to consider betting against them. As long as HLE get Chovy on a carry champion, this should be an easy 2-0 win to the favourites.

?We could list all the reasons why Gen.G are stronger than Afreeca Freecs, but anyone who is even remotely familiar with the LoL esports scene should know that Gen.G are one of the top teams in the world. That said, there is a world where AF steal one map, but it will all come down to two things: their draft, and ADC Bae “Bang” Jun-sik.

These two factors will also work hand-in-hand since it will be crucial for AF to play around Bang and enable him to carry, as opposed to putting their resources towards top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in and mid laner Song “Fly” Yong-jun, who are generally very inconsistent.

Afreeca Freecs might be weaker overall, but they at least have the tools to cause some damage and perhaps even surprise Gen.G, who lost against a much weaker opponent (1-2 against DRX) just two weeks ago. As such, we are taking AF at the map line.

?We are only a couple of weeks into the 2021 LCK season and it’s fairly obvious T1 look far better with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in the lineup instead of Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon. It’s not like Clozer is a bad player, but T1 – for whatever reason – make far more questionable and greedy plays without their veteran in the mid lane. It remains to be seen whether T1 will start Faker over Clozer on Wednesday, but some changes are expected.

Nongshin RedForce have had a few flashes of greatness this split, but they are still one of the weakest teams in the league and will need to produce something outstanding to defeat the most decorated team in LoL history.

Don’t let T1’s 2-3 record confuse you, as this is still one of the most stacked teams in the LCK. As long as you can get odds around +150 or better, T1 are worth a shot to cover the map handicap.

?On Saturday, Gen.G showcased a near-perfect game against Liiv SANDBOX, which is quite a rare sight so early in the season. What makes Gen.G’s win even more impressive is that SANDBOX did not perform poorly but were instead outmatched by Gen.G’s raw quality.

DRX got away with another steal when they edged past Fredit BRION (2-1), and it’s not like they did anything particularly impressive. They are still a more reactive than proactive team, as they look to exploit their opponents’ mistakes rather than gain leads of their own.

That approach, however, won’t work against Gen.G, who are far too disciplined and rarely give their opponents a chance to get ahead. We at www.arabgb.com like our underdogs, but the quality gap here is far too big for us to consider siding with DRX in any market.
