FlyQuest pulled off a stunning victory against Cloud9 in round two of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Playoffs, securing their place at the 2024 LoL World Championship alongside Team Liquid.

This marks FlyQuest’s first World Championship appearance in four years, and they did it in style, taking down one of the LCS’s most storied teams.

FlyQuest’s journey to this victory wasn’t straightforward.

After finishing third in the LCS Summer regular season with a 5-2 record, FlyQuest fell to Cloud9 0-2 on the final day.

However, their thirst for revenge was evident in the playoffs.

Despite losing the first game of the series, FlyQuest looked dominant throughout, nearly clinching the win in map one before Cloud9 managed a narrow comeback.

From that point on, it was all FlyQuest.

In the following maps, FlyQuest took control, winning maps two and three in long but convincing fashion.

The final map, however, was a masterclass in dominance.

FlyQuest dismantled Cloud9 in just 26 minutes with a perfect 14-0 kill score, leaving Cloud9 without a single kill.

A significant contributor to FlyQuest’s victory was mid laner Song “Quad” Su-hyeong, who celebrated his 22nd birthday by putting on an exceptional performance.

Quad achieved a 25-5 kill/death score over the series, with a standout nine-kill performance in Game 2 on Smolder.

His 81% kill participation underscored his critical role in FlyQuest’s success.

But it wasn’t just Quad who shone.

Top laner Gabri?l “Bwipo” Rau rebounded from a difficult start to hold his own in a Renekton vs. K’Sante battle against C9’s Park “Thanatos” Seung-gyu.

Meanwhile, jungler Kacper “Inspired” S?oma secured a crucial baron steal on map three, shifting the momentum decisively in FlyQuest’s favour.

After the match, Inspired highlighted the team’s growth in coordination, stating, “The team is finally doing only coordinated plays; in this game and the whole series, we never took a fight when we didn’t need to.”

This win sends FlyQuest to the upper bracket final against Team Liquid on Saturday, August 31.

Although their primary goal of reaching LoL Worlds is secured, FlyQuest is far from complacent.

Inspired acknowledged the challenge ahead, noting that Team Liquid is equally adept at controlled gameplay, making their upcoming match anything but easy.

Cloud9, on the other hand, now faces a critical test.

After falling to FlyQuest, they’ll await the winner of Dignitas vs. 100 Thieves for a do-or-die match on Sunday, September 1, to claim the final LCS spot at Worlds.

Despite their recent struggles, Cloud9 remains a formidable opponent, having attended ten of the past eleven World Championships.

However, they’ll need to regroup quickly and address the mistakes that plagued them in this series to keep their streak alive.

FlyQuest’s victory not only avenges their regular season loss to Cloud9 but also cements their resurgence in the LCS.

As they prepare to face Team Liquid, fans can expect a thrilling encounter between two of the top teams in North America.

Another big week of esports kicks off on August 26, 2024, with League of Legends taking the spotlight.

The final weeks of the summer split in each of the top four regional League of Legends leagues will take place over the next fortnight.

With the LPL and LEC concluding on August 30 and September 1, respectively, it will leave the LCK and LCS as the last two splits to finish before the LoL World Championship kicks off on September 25.

  • League of Legends Pro League (LPL)

Weibo Gaming (WBG) and Bilibili Gaming (BLG) will face off in the grand final of the LPL Summer Playoffs. BLG can cement their claim as the best team from China, and WBG can qualify for LoL Worlds with an upset victory.

BLG swept WBG 3-0 when these two met in the upper bracket semi-final, and they are expected to repeat that performance in the final, with esports betting sites marking them as a -833.33 favourite.

The LPL Regional Finals will take place the following week, with JD Gaming, LNG Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas awaiting the fourth team to join them in the last chance stage.

Check out our extensive LPL betting guide betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

  • League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK)

Following their wins in the quarter-finals, Dplus KIA and T1 have joined Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports in the double-elimination playoff bracket.

With only one defeat to their name throughout the LCK Summer split, Gen.G are considered heavy favourites to take out the summer title.

If Gen.G takes out the title, T1, Hanwha Life Esports, Dplus KIA, KT Rolster and FearX will clash in the LCK Regional Finals for the last three World Championship spots in the Korean league.

Check out our extensive LCK betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

  • League of Legends Championship Series (LCS)

Team Liquid have dominated the LCS Summer split, finishing the regular season with a 7-0 record before winning their way into the upper bracket final in the first week of the playoffs.

Cloud9, 100 Thieves and Dignitas will seek to claim the final Worlds spot by finishing in the top three, due to Liquid and FlyQuest already qualifying for the season-ending event.

Check out our extensive LCS betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

  • League of Legends EMEA Championship Season Finals (LEC)

The LEC Season Finals will take place on the weekend, with MAD Lions KOI clashing with G2 Esports on August 31 to earn the right to meet Fnatic in the grand final on Sunday, September 1.

Each of the remaining teams are already qualified for LoL Worlds; however, the winner of the Season Finals will enter Worlds as the high seed for the region.

By beating Cloud9 last round, Team Liquid claimed the tag as the no.1 team in the LCS. It was a solid display from Liquid, but not that surprising, considering the LCS 2024 Spring champions tend to perform better when faced with stronger teams.

After losing to Dignitas 0-2 on Saturday, NRG are 2-4 and in danger of missing the playoffs. That is expected as NRG have been struggling this split, ranking bottom-three across most metrics. That includes -157 gold difference per minute, 1770 gold per minute, 30.8% first tower rate, 38.5% first blood rate, and the league’s second-worst -1207 gold difference at 15 minutes.

The betting odds on this match reflect a considerable quality difference between the two sides. And even though Liquid have had some closer games against weaker opponents, this should be an easy fixture for them.

Even though LCS teams are not that far apart quality-wise, Shopify Rebellion have proven to be one of the least efficient squads of the split. But despite their concerning record, Shopify Rebellion showed some signs of life over the last two weeks, with a 2-0 win against Dignitas and a decent showing in a 1-2 loss to FlyQuest.

100 Thieves won their second match of LCS 2024 Summer against Immortals on Saturday, but not without a struggle. It was a terrible display from Kim “River” Dong-woo and his crew, who won only thanks to Immortals’ atrocious performance. Such a display should make anyone wonder why LoL betting sites have them priced as favourites.

Neither of these teams are good, but that applies to all LCS squads outside of the top three. Therefore, any plus money bet we can get in these affairs is a solid choice.

NRG have secured two victories this split, and they hardly deserve much more. NRG are one of the worst-performing teams in the league — especially in the early game, with a -1355 gold difference and a -0.5 tower difference at 15 minutes.

Dignitas are 1-4 and on a three-game losing streak, yet they have shown a pulse against stronger opponents. They fumbled against Shopify Rebellion last week and lost 0-2, but the eye test suggests Dignitas are not terrible. Like NRG, they are simply not good.

Despite the difference in win tallies, there are no reasons to believe NRG are stronger than Dignitas. The two LoL esports teams seem very close in quality, so taking Dignitas’ side at plus money makes more sense.

100 Thieves took a map from FlyQuest last week, which might explain the prices offered by LoL betting sites. But FlyQuest aren’t the most consistent team, so we can take 100 Thieves’ success with a grain of salt.

100 Thieves are one of the more volatile teams in the league, and their total kills average per game (27.8) is a good indication of how they like to play. Immortals, meanwhile, are the least bloody team in LCS 2024 Summer (22.6 average kills), mainly due to their ability to keep games fairly stable in the first 15 minutes.

The quality difference between LCS teams outside the top three is marginal enough not to have such strong favourites for any series. As such, it makes very little sense to give Immortals under 35% implied probability to defeat a squad who are just as bad as them.

The best esports betting sites have Dignitas priced as +475 underdogs for their series against Team Liquid, which is an absurd number.

After only three rounds of play, the only thing we can take from the North American LoL league is that there is no significant difference between most teams. But, more importantly, no team is consistent enough to be considered a good bet as heavy favourites.

Team Liquid are 3-0 with wins against FlyQuest, Shopify Rebellion, and 100 Thieves. On the other side, Dignitas are 2-1 with a close loss against Cloud9, a victory against 100 Thieves, and a 0-2 defeat against FlyQuest before the break. Team Liquid have done better, but not by that much.

FlyQuest are 2-1 after three weeks of play, with a loss against Team Liquid and victories against NRG and Dignitas. They did not look great in either of the two wins, however.

While very talented, FlyQuest have not displayed the consistency needed to be a good bet at this price. Immortals to win a map at plus money is a far more appealing bet, especially considering they’ve had three weeks to prepare for this match.

Cloud9 have picked up two victories in the opening weeks of LCS 2024 Summer. They had to earn their win against Dignitas in Week 1 but had an easier time beating Immortals on Saturday.

As one of the leading teams on the outright LoL betting markets, Cloud9 deserve respect, but we’re looking at a short price. The LCS is much closer quality-wise than other top LoL esports regions, so even though Cloud9 are the better team, it’s hard to justify these odds.

Shopify Rebellion were crushed by Immortals last week and didn’t show much against Team Liquid on Sunday either. But this is not so much taking the side of the stronger team as it is playing the price.

Cloud9 haven’t been flawless this split, and while they likely win this series, taking the underdogs to keep the first map within nine kills is a much more appealing play.

Dignitas are 1-1 with a loss against Cloud9 in the first week and a fairly convincing 2-0 sweep of 100 Thieves on Saturday. FlyQuest have managed the same record, with a defeat against Team Liquid and a close victory against NRG.

Considering what the two teams have shown so far, it’s surprising to see FlyQuest priced as -285.71 favourites. They’re offside for this series and have not demonstrated the elite-level performances you’d expect from a team with such a price tag.

Long-term, FlyQuest should outperform Dignitas, but there aren’t many reasons not to take the underdogs at over +200 with the best LoL betting sites.

Since the difference in quality between all eight LCS teams is marginal, seeing esports betting sites install Team Liquid as -384.62 favourites doesn’t make much sense.

Liquid have not shown much this season — even though they outperformed expectations at Mid-Season Invitational 2024. They’ve edged past FlyQuest and defeated Shopify Rebellion in this split, which is hardly more exciting than 100 Thieves’ 2-0 sweep of NRG and loss against Dignitas.

That defeat alone could be a big reason 100 Thieves are such massive underdogs. But while 100T didn’t look great that day, Team Liquid should never be priced so short for this affair. At the offered number, 100 Thieves to take a map is an easy choice.

NRG have been overrated for a while now, and things haven’t changed this split. They’re 0-2 after two weeks of play, with losses against 100 Thieves and FlyQuest, and while NRG took a map from FlyQuest, that’s more of an indication of how closely contested the league is.

Immortals picked up a win in the first week against Shopify Rebellion and lost to Cloud9 in two maps on Saturday. While that is not the best start, it’s hard to expect them to accomplish more with that schedule.

NRG field a better roster of players, but this didn’t help them in their loss against Immortals in the LCS 2024 Spring, nor is it a good reason to back them at this price. Get on Immortals at plus money.

Another big week of pro gaming kicks off on June 24, 2024, with League of Legends taking the focus of the esports world.

The top four LoL regional leagues will close out the first half of their respective summer splits before each of them goes on a two-week hiatus to make way for the Esports World Cup, which starts on July 4 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

    • League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC)

After three weeks of play in LEC 2024 Summer, a clear divide has become evident with Fnatic (6-1), SK Gaming (6-1), Team BDS (6-1) and G2 Esports (5-2) filling the top-four places on the table.

This week’s games will feature a massive clash between Fnatic and SK Gaming, which could result in the winner taking top spot before the break.

Check out our extensive LEC betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

    • League of Legends Pro League (LPL)

Similarly to most LPL splits, JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming and Top Esports have been dominant in the LPL 2024 Summer Placements, with each of those teams topping their group with undefeated records.

The last five days of the placement matches will determine qualification for the Rumble Stage. Anyone’s Legend, Bilibili Gaming, JD Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Top Esports have already locked in their spots.

Check out our extensive LPL betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

    • League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK)

Following their Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) triumph, Gen.G have returned to the LCK in dominant fashion and sit atop the table with a 4-0 record.

Kwangdong Freecs, Hanwha Life Esports, T1 and Dplus KIA are chasing Gen.G, and all of those teams own a 3-1 record heading into the final week of play before the break.

Check out our extensive LCK betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

    • League of Legends Championship Series (LCS)

Cloud9 and Team Liquid are the only two teams that remain undefeated after two series, with both squads holding a +3 map difference.

After starting their summer split later than the rest of the major regions, the LCS will only have three game weeks before having a three-week break for the Esports World Cup.

ESB brings you free League of Legends predictions for four games on Wednesday in the final week of the LoL Championship Series (LCS) 2023 Summer. Here are our selections for Golden Guardians vs Team Liquid, FlyQuest vs TSM, NRG Esports vs Cloud9, and Dignitas vs 100 Thieves on July 19, 2023.

Team Liquid and Golden Guardians enter the final week of the LCS 2023 Summer regular season with a guaranteed spot in the playoffs and are now only playing for seeding. But that doesn’t mean either can afford to put its foot off the gas. Golden Guardians can secure a direct bye into the second round of LCS Championship 2023, whereas Team Liquid are in a tight race for a top-six finish and a ticket for the upper bracket.

Team Liquid have had their moments this split but have proven to be very inconsistent, and the same can be said for Golden Guardians, although to a lesser extent. However, both squads tend to perform well against stronger teams, suggesting that this should be a close game.

There’s not much to separate GG and Team Liquid quality-wise, and they should match up nicely stylistically. But there’s another angle we can approach betting on this game.

There was a noticeable uptick in total kills in the LCS with patch 11.13, so betting on over 27.5 kills is an intriguing choice. Team Liquid and Golden Guardians are two of the bloodiest teams in the league (15.5 and 15.7 average kills per game) and tend to play longer games than most, but the offered line (32.5 minutes) is too high.

FlyQuest showed improvement last week when they crushed Evil Geniuses, but it’s still fair to feel concerned about how much FlyQuest can accomplish. This is a very stacked roster, but lacks synergy, and FlyQuest have already proven that they can lose to anyone.

TSM are the complete opposite, as a team has outperformed everyone’s expectations. TSM don’t field the star players of FlyQuest, but they are well-coached and know how to move around the map. But most importantly, TSM are efficient in punishing sloppy teams.

With the players they have, FlyQuest shouldn’t be losing against TSM or most other teams in the league. But their poor decision-making and sloppy mid-late game will be a huge issue when faced with TSM.

Despite losing four games over the first five weeks, Cloud9 are still the best team in the LCS and the main favourites to win the league. However, despite everything Cloud9 have shown this split, they are not a good bet at the offered LoL betting odds.

Over the last two weeks, Cloud9 have shown some cracks and have proven vulnerable even against lesser teams. That is likely due to Cloud9 experimenting in preparation for the playoffs, or perhaps they’ve lost traction.

NRG Esports are 8-7, which is surprisingly good for their standards, but this is not a very good team because they rely too much on getting kills. NRG also don’t have the talent needed to compete for the top spots, but just like TSM, they’re very good at punishing top teams. Five of their eight wins have come against the strongest teams in the LCS – Cloud9, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and Golden Guardians (twice).

At the offered League of Legends betting odds, backing Cloud9 isn’t a wise choice and expecting them to cover the 7.5-kill handicap is too optimistic since this is a very high number. Underdogs with a 7.5-kill advantage is a better play, but we’re getting more value on the moneyline market.

Dignitas and 100 Thieves are tied at 6-9, two wins above FlyQuest and Immortals, so this is a crucial match for both teams as it will decide which of the two will make the LCS Championship. But even though we can expect them to give their all, picking a favourite is tough.

100 Thieves finished last week with defeats against Immortals and Cloud9 and a win against TSM. But even that victory was not convincing, as it mostly had to do with TSM making a few misplays early and allowing 100T to run away with it.

Dignitas are in a similar spot but didn’t win a single game in LCS 2023 Summer Week 5, with defeats against TSM, NRG Esports, and Immortals. This explains why Dignitas are priced as underdogs for this match, even though they’re not much worse than 100 Thieves.

This match can go both ways, and there’s no telling which. However, we know that Dignitas are the bloodiest team in the league (12.3 kills, 17.3 deaths) and like to force their opponents to either fight or let Dignitas roll them over. So even though 100T are the least-bloody LCS team, Dignitas should dictate the tempo and force a game with plenty of kills on both sides.

ESB brings you free League of Legends betting tips for four LoL Championship Series (LCS) 2023 Summer bouts on Wednesday, July 12. Here are our selections for TSM vs Dignitas, Evil Geniuses vs Golden Guardians, FlyQuest vs NRG Esports, and 100 Thieves vs Immortals.

TSM vs DIGNITAS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

After producing mixed results over the first rounds of the regular season, TSM found traction in Week 4 when they defeated Immortals, NRG Esports, and Golden Guardians, improving their record to 6-6 ahead of LCS 2023 Summer Week 5. Their sudden resurgence isn’t that shocking.

TSM have been playing well but haven’t received much respect from the market. That’s not to say that TSM are a great team or have a realistic chance to win the LCS crown, but they know how to punish sloppy opponents.

Dignitas are tied with TSM at 6-6 but have won just one of their three games against FlyQuest; however, the losses happened against Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses, so Dignitas deserve some slack. Much like TSM, Dignitas have picked up a few wins this split, but they haven’t done anything spectacular.

It’s tough to pick a winner as the teams are qualitatively equal. Still, TSM are in much better shape and have looked better in their recent outings. Perhaps this is a sign of TSM gaining momentum, but they still have much to prove.

EVIL GENIUSES vs GOLDEN GUARDIANS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Evil Geniuses have done a great job keeping up with Cloud9 in the LCS 2023 Summer regular season title race and legitimately look like the second-best team in the league. They suffered a shock loss on Friday against NRG Esports, but that loss doesn’t take away from EG’s impressive run since the second week of the regular season, which includes wins against 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Immortals, TSM, and Team Liquid.

Golden Guardians are not quite in the same bracket as Evil Geniuses and Cloud9, but they’re not that far behind. With an 8-4 record, GG look poised for at least a top-four finish, and if they can get it together, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they secure a direct bye into the second round of the LCS Championship 2023.

But that’s a big “what if”. Golden Guardians are slowly looking more like themselves as the season goes on and have a much higher ceiling than their record suggests. But they’re not quite there yet, and their defeat against TSM on Friday proved it.

Evil Geniuses are better than any other team in the LCS besides Cloud9 and shouldn’t struggle to beat Golden Guardians. GG have the talent to keep it close, but a lot will come down to whether they can contain EG’s explosive early game.

FlyQuest has an impressive bounce-back in the third week of the LCS 2023 Summer regular season but returned to their old ways last week, with defeats against 100 Thieves, Golden Guardians, and Dignitas. What is happening with this team is anyone’s guess, but FlyQuest just can’t seem to get any traction.

NRG Esports are 5-7, but there’s more to this record than meets the eye. Even though NRG Esports aren’t one of the LCS title candidates, they always perform well against top teams. NRG Esports have won five games this split, four of which came against Cloud9, Golden Guardians, Team Liquid, and Evil Geniuses.

FlyQuest defeated NRG Esports two weeks back, but that was during FlyQuest’s sole positive week. And while they might wake up again on Wednesday, it’s tough to justify backing FlyQuest to defeat any team in the league in their current state.

100 THIEVES vs IMMORTALS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Immortals are by far the worst team in the LCS, and based on what they’ve shown over the last couple of weeks, their situation won’t change anytime soon. Immortals haven’t won or come close to winning a game since the opening week of LCS 2023 Summer and enter this match on a 10-game losing streak.

That’s hardly surprising. Immortals rank bottom-three across all performance metrics, including all gold stats and Baron, Herald, and Dragon control. It doesn’t get much worse than this.

100 Thieves are in a better spot than Immortals, but they’re not very convincing. They still struggle in the early game and lack creativity, which should’ve been addressed by now, but 100T instead cruise on and seem content with being a mediocre team.

As much as we can criticise 100 Thieves, this is still their game to lose, but instead of taking 100 Thieves to win or cover the kill handicap, under 11.5 towers is the best bet for this match. 100T are not a very bloody team, and they aren’t good at demolishing towers (5.2 towers per game) but instead rely on scaling, which should lead to a drawn-out, low-scoring game with sidelanes left relatively untouched.
