In a heated showdown at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre, FaZe Clan emerged victorious as the IEM Chengdu 2024 champions, adding another accolade to their impressive streak.

Their triumph was particularly sweet as they conquered their rivals, MOUZ, in a decisive 2-0 (13-10, 13-6) victory on Overpass and Nuke.

The series commenced on MOUZ’s map pick, Overpass, where FaZe Clan showcased their defensive prowess, stifling their opponent’s advances and allowing only four rounds to slip through their grasp.

Despite MOUZ’s efforts to rally, FaZe Clan maintained their dominance and secured a critical win, taking a commanding lead in the series.

Moving on to Nuke, FaZe Clan continued to assert their dominance, swiftly establishing an early lead on the T-side and effectively shutting down MOUZ’s resistance.

With flawless coordination and individual brilliance, FaZe Clan sealed the deal with a convincing victory, clinching the series 2-0 and claiming their fourth Counter-Strike 2 title.

Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants, FaZe Clan’s exceptional AWPer, was rightfully hailed as the MVP of the event, showcasing his prowess and contributing significantly to his team’s success throughout the tournament.

As FaZe Clan basks in their hard-earned victory, they have little time to rest, with ESL Pro League looming on the horizon.

Meanwhile, MOUZ and other contenders will be eager to seek redemption in the upcoming tournament, hoping to dethrone the reigning champions and carve their path to glory.

In an intense showdown at IEM Chengdu, MOUZ triumphed over G2 Esports 2-1 (13-8, 7-13, 13-10) in a nail-biting series to secure a spot in the grand final.

Despite facing tough challenges in previous playoff stages of Counter-Strike 2 tournaments, MOUZ demonstrated resilience and determination, particularly evident in their stellar performance on Overpass, where they clinched victory from a 6-8 deficit on the T-side.

The series showcased MOUZ’s adaptability and strategic prowess, as they capitalized on G2’s vulnerabilities, especially on maps like Nuke and Overpass.

Despite G2’s strong start on Overpass, MOUZ rallied back, showcasing maturity in their gameplay and outmanoeuvring their opponents to secure crucial rounds.

Throughout the series, standout performances from players like ádám ‘torzsi’ Torzsás and Jimi ‘Jimpphat’ Salo bolstered MOUZ’s momentum, while G2 struggled to maintain consistency, particularly evident in their shaky performance on Ancient.

Despite moments of brilliance from players like Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kova? and Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov, G2 couldn’t sustain their momentum, ultimately succumbing to MOUZ’s relentless pressure.

With this victory, MOUZ advances to the grand final, eagerly anticipating their opponent, FaZe Clan.

Post-game, torzsi expressed a clear desire to face FaZe, setting the stage for an electrifying final showdown.

Meanwhile, FaZe Clan secured their spot in the grand final after defeating Astralis 2-1 (13-10, 5-13, 13-7) in a hard-fought series.

Despite initial setbacks on Nuke, FaZe showcased resilience and determination, staging a comeback to secure a crucial victory.

The series highlighted FaZe’s adaptability and tactical prowess, particularly evident in their strategic approach on Inferno.

Led by Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen’s leadership and standout performances from players like Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants, FaZe dominated the latter stages of the series, ultimately securing a decisive victory over Astralis.

As FaZe prepares to face off against MOUZ in the grand final, both teams are poised for an exhilarating showdown, each determined to emerge victorious and claim the coveted IEM Chengdu title.

With the grand final set to take place inside the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre at 6:30pm CST, esports betting sites have FaZe Clan (-163.93) marked as favourites over MOUZ (+120).

In a thrilling matchup at IEM Chengdu, G2 Esports showcased their prowess against Virtus.pro, securing a decisive victory in a two-map series on Anubis and Overpass.

Led by the dynamic duo of Ilya “?m0NESY?” Osipov and Nikola “?NiKo?” Kova?, G2 outplayed Virtus.pro at every turn, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and individual skill.

On Anubis, Virtus.pro struggled to find their footing against a dominant G2 defence.

Despite a brief resurgence after winning the second pistol round, Virtus.pro faltered in the face of G2’s strategic plays, ultimately succumbing to a 13-6 defeat.

The battle intensified on Overpass as Virtus.pro asserted their dominance early on, establishing a 5-1 lead.

However, G2 rallied back with a series of impressive plays, including a standout performance from NiKo.

Yet, it was m0NESY’s clutch plays that turned the tide in G2’s favour, securing crucial rounds and ultimately leading to a 13-10 victory.

With their sights set on the semi-finals against MOUZ, G2’s momentum remains strong as they continue to prove themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Counter-Strike 2 scene.

Meanwhile, FaZe Clan advanced to the semi-finals after a hard-fought series against Team Liquid.

Despite facing tough competition, FaZe’s resilience and strategic prowess ultimately secured them a 2-1 (16-13, 13-11, 13-10) victory, with wins on Nuke and Mirage.

Liquid, despite showing promise with their new lineup, fell short against FaZe’s seasoned lineup.

Mareks “?YEKINDAR?” Ga?inskis displayed flashes of brilliance, while Russel “?Twistzz?” Van Dulken showcased his carry potential, but they couldn’t match Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants and David ‘frozen’ ?erňansky on the other side of the server.

However, FaZe’s ability to clutch out crucial rounds proved decisive in their victory.

FaZe now prepares to face Astralis in the semi-finals, eager to avenge their earlier defeat in the group stage.

With both teams showcasing their resilience and skill, fans can expect an intense showdown as they vie for a spot in the grand finals of IEM Chengdu.

Outside of their dominant 13-1 win over Wildcard in the opening round, Virtus.pro have been far from impressive at IEM Chengdu. After scraping past FlyQuest in the upper-bracket semifinal, VP were convincingly beaten by Astralis in the upper-bracket final and will go into this clash as underdogs.

David “n0rb3r7” Daniyelyan and Evgeniy “FL1T” Lebedev have been carrying this squad so far, and if they want to challenge G2 Esports, they will need help from the rest of the team.

Like their opposition, G2 have been good without being impressive. They have recorded back-to-back 2-0 victories against Lynn Vision and Heroic, but there is still something missing that is stopping the world number six from going to the next level.

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov has put his teammates on his back throughout this event, recording the third-best rating (1.35) of all players at IEM Chengdu. However, if m0NESY doesn’t get some help from others in this series, it could be curtains for G2 in China.

Counter-Strike 2 betting sites have the odds right, with very little separating these two teams. It is hard to tip either team with confidence, so betting on the total maps market looks to be the smart play.

Team Liquid and FaZe Clan are two rosters going in opposite directions heading into the pointy end of the tournament. Liquid were completely outplayed by MOUZ in their 0-2 loss, while FaZe Clan made light work of Cloud9 and FlyQuest on Wednesday.

After taking down Heroic and G2 Esports in their first two series, Team Liquid appeared to have turned the corner with this new roster; however, the MOUZ result showed some cracks in their system against very good opposition.

FaZe Clan are renowned for being slow starters, and after Astralis destroyed them 2-0 in the upper-bracket semifinal, it appears as though the Danish squad woke up the world’s best Counter-Strike 2 roster.

David “frozen” ?erňansky and Helvijs “broky” Saukants have taken over for FaZe in their last two matches, and if they continue their hot form, Liquid won’t stand a chance.

It wouldn’t surprise anyone if FaZe Clan came out and won this match 2-0 in dominant fashion; however, with the round line set at 5.5 for the series, the handicap on FaZe looks to be a great play.

In Chengdu, the Counter-Strike 2 scene witnessed a thrilling line-up of matches, setting the stage for intense playoffs.

MOUZ and Astralis emerged as top contenders, showcasing their dominance in the group stage.

Astralis, revitalized with Nicolai “device” Reedtz leading the charge, displayed a formidable performance against Virtus.pro.

Their strategic gameplay limited Virtus.pro to a mere 13 rounds across the two maps.

Thanks to a standout performance from players like Victor “Staehr” Staehr, Astralis secured a convincing 2-0 (13-6, 13-7) victory, highlighting their prowess on maps like Overpass and Vertigo.

Meanwhile, MOUZ faced a tougher challenge against Liquid but managed to secure their spot in the playoffs with a late comeback on Inferno followed by a dominant performance on Mirage to take the series 2-0 (13-11, 13-6).

Despite questions surrounding their form on stage, MOUZ proved their mettle, led by key player Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo.

G2’s journey to the playoffs was marked by intense battles, particularly against Heroic, whom they defeated 2-0 (13-10, 16-13) in a closely contested match.

With players like Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov showcasing top-tier form, G2 secured a playoff berth, setting up a tantalizing clash against Virtus.pro.

FaZe Clan solidified their place in the playoffs with a commanding victory 2-0 (13-4, 13-10) over FlyQuest.

Led by Finn “karrigan” Andersen, FaZe displayed dominance on maps like Ancient and Nuke, denying FlyQuest’s attempts at a comeback despite a valiant effort from David “frozen” ?erňansky.

As the stage is set for the playoffs, anticipation runs high for matchups like FaZe versus Liquid and G2 against Virtus.pro.

With top teams vying for supremacy, CS2 fans can expect an electrifying conclusion to IEM Chengdu.

The second day of IEM Chengdu witnessed intense clashes as Virtus.pro and Cloud9 secured crucial wins, positioning themselves strategically in the tournament.

Virtus.pro, led by Dzhami “Jame” Ali, secured the third playoff spot at the Counter-Strike 2 event after defeating FlyQuest 2-1 (16-14, 11-13, 13-7), while Cloud9 kept their hopes alive by dominating Wildcard 2-0 (13-1, 13-5).

Virtus.pro’s journey was marked by ups and downs, particularly evident in their match against FlyQuest.

Despite a dominant start on Inferno, they faced fierce resistance from FlyQuest’s aggressive AWPing, led by Alistair “aliStair” Johnston.

However, Virtus.pro’s resilience led them to secure overtime and eventually a hard-fought 16-14 win.

The following map, Vertigo, saw FlyQuest in control with an impressive 11-1 lead in the first half.

Yet, Virtus.pro staged a spirited comeback, fuelled by clutch plays from Evgenii “FL1T” Lebedev and David “n0rb3r7” Danielyan.

Although they fell short, losing 11-13, Virtus.pro bounced back convincingly in the decider map, securing a 13-7 victory and a coveted playoff spot.

Astralis showcased dominance in their match against FaZe, securing their spot in the playoffs.

Playing their first tournament with Nicolai “device” Reedtz as the in-game leader, Astralis exhibited cohesion and strength, particularly highlighted by Martin “stavn” Lund’s stellar performance.

With a 1.65 rating, stavn showcased significant improvement, contributing to Astralis’ commanding 2-0 (13-7, 13-4) victory over FaZe.

Following their win, device highlighted their team’s adaptability and cohesion under new leadership, crediting role adjustments for their improved performance.

Astralis will face Virtus.pro in a highly anticipated clash for a spot in the semi-finals.

In other matches, Lynn Vision’s journey came to an end as they were eliminated by G2 in 2-0 (13-8, 13-11) fashion, dashing hopes of Chinese representation in the playoffs.

Similarly, FURIA suffered a heartbreaking defeat against Heroic, despite a strong start.

After FURIA claimed Ancient, Heroic emerged victorious on Nuke and Overpass to take the series 2-1 (6-13, 13-6, 13-11) and set up a showdown against G2 for a chance to advance to the playoffs.

IEM Spring is the next event on the Counter-Strike 2 esports calendar, with 16 squads — including five of the top 10 teams in the world — competing from April 8–14 for the US$250,000 prize pool in Chengdu, China.

With the seven highest-ranked organisations coming off PGL Major Copenhagen campaigns, the top teams look to be a class above their lower-ranked opponents.

Esports betting sites have their outright winner market focused around two teams, with FaZe Clan (+225) and MOUZ (+250) sitting clear of the rest of the field. G2 Esports (+500), Virtus.pro (+550), and Cloud9 (+550) are the only other chances marked under double figures to claim the IEM Chendgu title.

Here is our IEM Spring betting preview and outright picks, with odds courtesy of the top Counter-Strike betting sites in United States.

    FaZe Clan IEM Chengdu predictions

Although many believed that FaZe Clan went into the first CS2 Major as somewhat of a false top seed, the Finn “karrigan” Anderson-led squad did everything but win in Copenhagen as they fell to Natus Vincere in the grand final.

It appears they have returned to the FaZe of old; however, it is the younger players, such as Helvijs “broky” Saukants and David “frozen” ?erňansky, who are stepping up in pivotal moments for FaZe.

Interestingly, the last two events that took place in the Asia-Pacific region — IEM Sydney 2023 and CS Asia Championships — were won by FaZe Clan. Unlike most of the European squads, FaZe seem to get better when they have to travel, and after their runner-up finish at the Major, anyone who plays them during IEM Chengdu could be in for a tough clash.

    Virtus.pro IEM Chengdu predictions

If you are a die-hard Counter-Strike fan, there is no need to get into the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Virtus.pro’s exit from PGL Major Copenhagen; however, if they had beaten G2 Esports, this roster could have done some serious damage.

VP were dominant during both the Europe RMR A and IEM Dallas 2024 Europe qualifiers, advancing to the main event of each tournament with 3-0 records. This roster, led by Dzhami “Jame” Ali, has been together for nine months, and their cohesion is as good as any squad participating at this event.

Virtus.pro will be in the same group as FaZe Clan and will more than likely play off in the upper-bracket final. Due to them being in the same group, as long as VP or FaZe finish second in the group, they won’t face each other again until the grand final, which puts them both in a great spot.

    Outright winner: Virtus.pro

ESL has officially announced Chengdu as the host city for the 2024 edition of Intel Extreme Masters China, marking the tournament’s return to China since 2019.

Scheduled to take place from April 8 to 14, the event will bring together 16 elite Counter-Strike teams from across the globe, competing for a substantial $250,000 prize pool and the coveted opportunity to secure a spot in the IEM Cologne group stage.

The final three days of intense competition will unfold at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre, a versatile arena with a seating capacity of 12,000.

Originally intended as the homestand venue for the Overwatch League franchise Chengdu Hunters in 2020, the arena will finally witness top-tier Counter-Strike action.

Marc Winther, Head of Game Ecosystems, Counter-Strike at ESL FACEIT Group, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the Intel Extreme Masters back to China.

He highlighted China’s vibrant and passionate esports community, aiming to showcase their energy and talent on a global stage.

The line-up for IEM Chengdu includes renowned teams such as FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, FURIA, and Astralis, among others.

Ten teams secured direct invitations via the ESL World Rankings, while the remaining six spots will be filled through regional qualifiers.

Lynn Vision emerged victorious in the Chinese qualifier, solidifying their place in the prestigious tournament.

Notably, Team Vitality and Natus Vincere opted to decline direct invitations based on their ESL rankings.

ESL has stated that tickets for the event will go on sale in Q1, with more details set to be released in the coming weeks.

IEM Chengdu will be the second event of 2024 contributing to Intel Grand Slam 5 after IEM Katowice, which kicks off on January 31.

The standings currently show Vitality, ENCE, G2, MOUZ, and FaZe tied with one tournament win each in the Intel Grand Slam.
