?The battle for the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) crown continues on Saturday, April 2, when Fnatic and Rogue clash for a spot in the LEC 2022 Spring grand finals.
Fnatic and Rogue were a clear cut above their round one opponents, with Fnatic stomping G2 and Rogue handing Misfits Gaming a well-deserved loss. Admittedly, seeing Rogue drop one map against Misfits seems worse than Fnatic losing one against G2; however, that doesn’t necessarily indicate that Fnatic are a much better team.
Talent-wise, Rogue and Fnatic are very close. Rogue should have a slight edge in the top lane, but they will be slightly disadvantaged in the bottom lane. The mid lane is 50/50, whereas jungle can go both ways, and it will be the role that will dictate how the series go.
Assuming all five players on both teams have an average game, Fnatic win, but if jungler Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong can step up, the series should tip in favour of Rogue. Malrang is the carry jungler any team wish to have, and when he is in form, the 22-year-old is much better than Iván “Razork” Martín Díaz, who is arguably Fnatic’s weakest link.
From what we’ve seen so far, Fnatic seem like the better pick, but this match can easily go sideways. So instead of picking a winner, we’ll take over 4.5 maps. We already saw one five-map series in the lower bracket last weekend, and considering how evenly matched Fnatic and Rogue are, there’s a good chance we are in for a tightly contested affair.
